Moore County Schools Board of Education today announced the appointment of four new principals at its local elementary and middle schools.
Robert Breyer, the assistant principal at Vass Lakeview Elementary since 2011, will become principal of Cameron Elementary School. Prior to joining Moore County Schools, Breyer served for five years as an elementary school teacher for Harnett County Schools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from King’s College and a master’s degree in school administration from UNC Pembroke.
Douglas Massengill will become principal at West Pine Middle School. He currently serves as assistant principal at Coats-Erwin and Overhills Middle Schools in Harnett County. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from North Carolina State University and a Master of Arts in education from Gardner-Webb University. He also holds an licensure in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. The position became vacant when former principal Dr. Robin Calcutt was recently named director of Planning, Accountability and Research for Moore County Schools.
Dante Poole, currently the assistant principal at Aberdeen Elementary School, will now become its principal. Poole has been with Moore County Schools since 2007, also serving as assistant principal at Pinecrest High School, and as administrative intern and elementary school counselor. He holds a Bachelor of Science in biology and a Master of Arts in counseling from the College of New Jersey, where he also served as an adjunct professor in the School of Counselor Education. He also holds a Principal Licensure from Sandhills Leadership Academy. Current principal Stefanie Phillips will return to Pinecrest High School where she will serve as assistant principal.
Jeni Wolter Wiley, who has served as assistant principal at West Pine Middle School since 2014, will become principal of Elise Middle School. Wiley was previously at Elise Middle School as a principal intern, and has served as a teacher at New Century Middle School, Riverwood Middle School in Clayton, N.C., and East Wake Middle School in Raleigh. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in middle grades education from Elon College, and a Master of Arts in school administration from UNC Pembrook. She also holds an AIG Certification as well as a Principal Licensure from Sandhills Leadership Academy. The position became vacant when former principal Dr. Seth Powers was appointed director of Student Support Services for Moore County Schools.
“We created leadership opportunities at the building level when we down-sized and restructured the district leadership staff to focus more direct support on students and teachers,” said Moore County Schools Superintendent Bob Grimesey. “These latest appointments reflect a good balance between promoting leadership talent within the district and bringing in good talent from the outside. I am excited about the potential that our new principals offer to Cameron and Aberdeen elementary schools and to West Pine and Elise middle schools.”
Additional administrative appointments and transfers include:
• Lacey Miller, currently interim director for Moore County Schools Office of Planning, Accountability and Research, will replace Dante Poole as assistant principal at Aberdeen Elementary;
• Melonie Jones, currently assistant principal at Union Pines High School, will become assistant principal at Southern Middle School;
• Susan Rodriguez will transition from intern to fulltime assistant principal at Union Pines High School, where she previously served as an assistant principal intern; and
• Kate Faw will transition from interim to permanent data analyst and trainer in Moore County Schools Office of Planning, Accountability and Research.
