The Continuing Education Career Training program is a perfect local resource for adult learners who want to improve workplace skills, achieve job certification or recertification, improve employment marketability or explore new opportunities.
EKG Technician: Learn the required skills to become a certified EKG Technician and work in a variety of healthcare settings. Topics include cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiac cycle, EKG strip analysis, 12 lead EKG, and EKG procedures. The cost of the course is $185 plus text.
The EKG Technician course will meet on the Pinehurst Campus Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 – 9 p.m. Jan. 18 – May 10.
There will also be a EKG Technician course meeting at the Sandhills Hoke Center Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 -9 p.m. Jan. 24 – May 11.
Nurse Aide, Level 1, is a state-certified program will prepare students for work under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals in performing hands-on patient care. The course includes preparation for the State Board examination for NC NA Registry listing.

There will be a Nurse Aide, Level 1 class at Sandhills Hoke Center Jan. 9 – May 8 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and also a class on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 – 9:30 p.m. Jan. 10 – May 9.
Nurse Aide, Level 1 Refresher is a forty-hour program is designed for individuals whose listing has expired on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry. Eligible individuals must have completed a State- Approved Nurse Aide I program and have a certificate or transcript supporting completion. Class will be held Friday Jan. 27 and Feb. 3, Monday Jan. 30 and Feb. 6 and Tuesday Jan. 31. The cost is $130 and it will meet from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Pharmacy Technician course is designed to prepare students for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam and for entry-level employment. Topics include technical procedures for preparing and dispensing prescriptions, packaging and labeling, controlled substance procedures, inventory control, pharmacy calculations, and over-the- counter drugs. Upon completion, students will be able to perform basic supervised dispensing techniques in a community pharmacy setting.

A course will be held on the Pinehurst Campus Jan. 17 – May 15 Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 9 p.m. plus three Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Another will be held at the Sandhills Hoke Center Jan. 23 – May 15 Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 -9 p.m. plus four Saturdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Successful completion of the Auto Safety Inspection course will certify students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles Safety Inspection Law. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Auto Safety Inspection will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 17 and 19 from 6 – 10 p.m. The cost is $75.00.
Successful completion of the OBD Emissions Control Inspection course will certify students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles OBD Emissions Control Inspection Law. Students must be Certified in Auto Safety Inspection. This is also the Recertification class.
The OBD Emissions Control Inspection will meet Tuesday Jan. 24 and Thursday Jan. 26 from 6 – 10 p.m. The cost is $75.
The Alarm System Installation course introduces the operation and skill standards for the alarm industry. Topics focus on the installation, programming, maintenance and repair of alarm system wiring and equipment per applicable code, implementation of logical testing procedure for identifying system faults, and understanding general building construction. Upon completion you will have the knowledge to sit for a national certification exam as an Alarm Security Technician. Clean criminal background required to work in this field.
Alarm System Installation will meet Jan 10 – May 11 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 – 9 p.m. and the cost is $185.
The Notary Public class certifies participants to officially authorized to witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, and administer oaths as a notary public. Participants must have a high school diploma or GED and no felony convictions.
Notary Public will be held at Sandhills Hoke Center Tuesday Jan. 10 and Thursday Jan. 12 from 5:30 – 9 p.m. and the cost is $75 plus text.
The Income Maintenance Caseworker course goes deeper into the information and strategies necessary to develop a clear understanding of the knowledge required to be successful within an entry-level position in the field of human services. Introduction to Human Services is a prerequisite for this course.
Income Maintenance Caseworker will meet Jan. 10. – Mar. 2 Tuesdays and Thursday from 2 – 5 p.m. and the cost is $130.

The Sandhills Community College Continuing Education team can customize courses to meet the specific needs of a business or industry, provide resources to assist in developing new training initiatives, or to maintain and support current efforts. Courses can be held at convenient times for you and your staff at any SCC location, your business, or other convenient locations.
