During the August 9, 2017 Council meeting, Whispering Pines Police Chief Campbell introduced his newest police officer, Brent Strickland.
Officer Strickland graduated from Sandhills Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training Program on June 6, 2017. Officer Strickland started his police career with the Whispering Pines Police Department on July 3, 2017.
Officer Chris Holt and Officer Christian McNeill were recognized for being promoted to Senior Officer positions on July 1, 2017. Requirements for obtaining the Senior Officer level include 3 years of service as a certified law enforcement officer and successfully complete the following training: At Scene Traffic Crash Investigation, Verbal Judo, Drug Enforcement for Patrol Officers and an Officer Survival course.
Officer Holt was also recognized for having obtained his Intermediate Certification from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission which was awarded on June 19, 2017. Requirements for obtaining this certification include: 4 years as a full time sworn law enforcement officer when the officer hold an Associates Degree and a total of 320 hours of education and training in Commission approved law enforcement training exclusive of Basic Law Enforcement Training and Commission mandated in-service training.
