A 35-year-old man was killed after being struck by a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck on US Highway 1 in Aberdeen overnight.
Emergency responders were dispatched just before 1:00 am Saturday morning to US Highway 1 near the intersection of Johnson Street for reports of a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
The first fire unit to arrive at the accident advised that the victim was deceased.
US Highway 1 was blocked to traffic in both directions for an extended time period while the incident was investigated by law enforcement. According to Aberdeen Police Chief Carl Colasacco who responded to the scene, an Aberdeen Police Officer specially trained in accident reconstruction was called in to assist with the investigation.
After family members were notified, the victim was identified by authorities early Saturday morning as Brady Keith Mullendore.
Responding to the incident were units with Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the Aberdeen Police Department.
The accident remained under investigation as of this report.
