A single vehicle accident sent two people to the hospital Monday night in northern Moore County. The wreck happened when a Ford Taurus passenger car lost control and struck a bridge on Pine Groove Church Road a short distance off of NC Highway 24/27 around 11:30 PM.
Two people were transported to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with what were reported as serious but not immediately life threatening injuries.
Pine Grove Church Road was blocked to traffic in both directions for approximately one hour until a wrecker could arrive to remove the car from the middle of the bridge.
According to a NC State Highway Patrolman on the scene, the accident was caused by driving too fast for conditions on the wet roadway.
Responding to the accident were units with Westmoore Fire Department, Robbins Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
