Emergency responders were called out to a reported structure fire in Southern Pines Sunday evening. The fire at a home located at 621 McNeil Road off of Fort Bragg Road was called in around 8:30 PM.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to flames coming from around the homes chimney. Responders were able to quickly bring the blaze under control limiting the damage and saving the home from destruction.
The back wall of the home had extensive damage from the fire around the area of the chimney.
The homes occupants were able to escape from the fire without injury and sat in a Sheriff’s Department patrol car to get out of the 15 degree temperatures while firefighters worked to put out the flames and ventilate the smoke from the home.
Responding to this incident were units with Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Crestline Fire Department, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Department.
The cause of the fire was not known as of this report but is believed to have originated around the fireplace chimney.
