A head-on collision sent two people to the hospital outside of West End early Friday morning.
Emergency responders were dispatched just after 6:30 am to a two vehicle accident on NC Highway 73 near the intersection of McKenzies Mill Road.
The accident between a Dodge Charger and a Buick Verano caused extensive damage to the two vehicles involved leaving one vehicle in the middle of the roadway and the second off of the road against a pine tree.
One person was transported from the scene by ambulance to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with injuries reported as not life threatening. A second person also went to the hospital transported by a private vehicle.
One lane of NC Highway 73 was blocked for an extended time period Friday morning not reopening until just before 8:30 am. Fire and law enforcement officials worked to direct traffic around the wreck scene limiting delays for drivers passing through the area while the road was closed.
Responding were units with West End Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff's Department and the NC State Highway Patrol.
