Emergency officials were called out to NC Highway 5 in the area of Anderson Street just after 4 pm to reports of the car being derailed from the tracks.
Partially blocking the side of roadway, the derailed car and the railroad employees working on the car have NC Highway 5 down to one lane causing delays for traffic passing through the area. Drivers are urged to avoid NC Highway 5 Tuesday afternoon/evening if possible.
