A man was airlifted to a Trauma Center after a vehicle ran off of the road and struck a church in Vass Wednesday morning.
Responders were dispatched at 6:43 am to the Heritage Church of God located on US Highway 1 Business to a reported vehicle accident.
The first arriving fire units advised that a vehicle had struck the building in a single vehicle accident with heavy damage to the Ford Focus passenger car.
The male driver of the vehicle was the only person in the car according to emergency officials. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to meet a helicopter at a landing zone that had been setup in the ballfield on US Highway 1 Business to airlift the victim to a Trauma Center.
Responding to this accident were units with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Vass Police Department.
The accident remained under investigation by the Vass Police Department as of this report.
(Please Note – According to one of the leaders affiliated with the church, after the church building was inspected by the building inspector it has been determined that services may be held as usual this Sunday beginning at 10:30 am. The church family would like to extend their prayers and well wishes to the man injured.)
