A storage building located behind a house outside of Aberdeen was destroyed in a late afternoon blaze Thursday.
Firefighters with dispatched to the 36000 block of US Highway 1 between Aberdeen and Pinebluff at 5:28 pm to a reported barn on fire.
According to Aberdeen Fire Chief Phillip Richardson, emergency units arrived on the scene and found a large storage building with flames and smoke coming from the building.
Firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control after reaching the scene however the building was already a total loss. The home at this residence was not damaged by the fire.
One lane of US Highway 1 in the northbound direction was blocked by the responding emergency vehicles requiring a brief slowdown for drivers passing through the area during the time of the fire.
Responding to this incident were units with Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire Department, and Moore County Public Safety.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation as of this report.
