The driver of a Honda Odyssey mini van was temporarily entrapped in her vehicle and a Toyota 4Runner overturned onto its side after a two-vehicle collision near Woodlake Saturday morning.
Emergency responders were dispatched at 10:50 am to a vehicle accident on NC Highway 690 near the intersection of J Burns Road.
The first arriving emergency unit reported one vehicle on its side and a second vehicle with heavy damage to the front end.
According to officials at the scene, the occupants of the Toyota 4Runner were not injured and were able to get out of the vehicle without assistance however the driver of the Honda Odyssey was temporarily entrapped in the mini van until responders could use hydraulic powered rescue tools to pry open the door and free the injured woman.
The driver of the mini van was transported by ambulance to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst with injuries reported as not life threatening. The other occupants in the van which included children were uninjured.
NC Highway 690 was partially closed to traffic for almost an hour and a half while the injured driver was assisted and the debris removed from the roadway with emergency officials assisting traffic past the scene of the accident using one lane of the road.
Responding to this accident were units with Cypress Pointe Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
