A 50 year old man was struck by a passenger car on US Highway 1 south of Pinebluff Sunday night.
Emergency responders were dispatched just before 11:30 pm to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of US Highway 1 just before reaching the bridge and the Moore County/Richmond County line.
The first arriving firefighters requested that a helicopter be dispatched to fly the victim to a Trauma Center, however due to weather conditions at the time an aircraft was not available. The man was transported by ambulance to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Both southbound lanes of US Highway 1 were totally closed to traffic for an extended time period while the injured man was assisted and the Highway Patrol investigated the accident.
Responding to this incident were units with Pinebluff Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, Moore County Sheriff’s Department, and the NC State Highway Patrol.
