(Southern Pines) - The Southern Pines Police Department announces the arrest of Clark Duvaul Frye Waddell II, aka “Mooks Rasta,” 26 years of age, of Southern Pines, and Garner, North Carolina, for the following charges: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances and Resisting Arrest.
On March 23, 2019, at 2:20 am, officers from the Southern Pines Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle being operated by Clark Waddell II in the area of East Indiana Avenue and Fort Bragg Road in Southern Pines. At this time, Clark Waddell II drove though several residential streets stopping on East Hedgelawn Way. At this time, Clark Waddell II, exited the vehicle which he failed to put into the park position, and fled from officers on foot. The vehicle came to rest after striking a utility box. While being pursued by officers, Clark Waddell II was observed throwing a large bag of marijuana to the ground. As the foot chase continued, Clark Waddell II, was observed pulling a firearm from his person and attempted to discard it by throwing it. Clark Waddell II, was taken into custody by the pursuing officers at this time. Recovered in this incident was over 57 grams of marijuana, $2,476.00 in U.S. currency, digital scales and a loaded Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
Clark Waddell II, is a four time convicted felon, and was previously convicted in Wake County, North Carolina, for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and prohibited by state and federal law(s) from possessing a firearm. Clark Waddell II, was currently out on a $100,000.00 bond following the arrest by the Southern Pines Police Department on May 27, 2018, for Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possession of a Scheduled VI Controlled Substance, Possession with the Intent to Sell/Deliver a Schedule VI Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances and Resisting Arrest.
Investigators from the Southern Pines Police Department will be working closely with District Attorney Maureen Krueger, as well as our Federal law enforcement partners, specifically the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.), to pursue additional charges on Clark Duvaul Frye Waddell II.
Clark Duvaul Frye Waddell II appeared before a Moore County Magistrate, and was subsequently incarcerated in the Moore County Detention Center under a $250,000.00 secured bond pending a hearing in Moore County District Court on April 4, 2109.
All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
