Two vehicles were stolen in Aberdeen Sunday after the drivers had reportedly entered local businesses while leaving their vehicles running outside.

According to police officials they were first contacted about a BMW passenger car that had been stolen from the parking lot of the Mac’s Food Store on US Highway 1. This vehicle was recovered a short time later at the NAPA parking lot.

Officials than received a report of a stolen vehicle at the Lucky Star convenience store located at the intersection of US Highway 1 and NC Highway 5 not far from the NAPA store where the first vehicle had been left.

This vehicle is described as a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV light blue in color with a North Carolina License Tag of EHJ-1358. Officials are still seeking this stolen vehicle as of this report and anyone with information on its whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement. .

This is the 3rd time in the last week that a vehicle has been stolen at a local business while it was left running by the owner. Residents are urged to use caution when leaving their vehicles including not leaving the vehicle running or valuables clearly visible.
