Sheriff Ronnie Fields announces the arrest of an individual for assaulting a deputy during an early morning traffic stop.
At approximately 3:35 a.m. on April 19th, 2019, a deputy with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop in the Spies Road area of Moore County. A passenger in this vehicle was found to have outstanding warrants for arrest. When the deputy attempted to arrest this suspect, he assaulted the deputy and then fled the scene on foot evading arrest. After thoroughly searching the area, deputies suspended the search.
After the formation of an advanced search team, personnel from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office returned to the area and resumed the search. Shortly after the search began, deputies placed the suspect under arrest without incident.
Deputies arrested Ryan Andrew Britt, 27, of Star, North Carolina. Britt was charged with: one count of Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official, one count of Felony Assault on a Government Official, and One Count of Resisting a Public Officer. The outstanding warrants that were served on Britt consisted of one count Felony Assault by Strangulation, one count of Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, one count of Misdemeanor False Imprisonment, one count of Misdemeanor Battery of an Unborn Child, one count of Misdemeanor Larceny, and one count of Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property.
Britt was confined to the Moore County Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond for the assault of our deputy and received no bond on the remaining charges pending a first scheduled appearance in District Court on May 1st, 2019.
