The Southern Pines Police Department announces the arrest of Jesse Lee Goldston, 51 years of age, of Southern Pines, North Carolina for Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

On Friday, April 5, 2019, at approximately 6:30 am, an armed robbery occurred at the Quality Mart located at 915 Old U.S. Highway 1 in Southern Pines, North Carolina. Video evidence from the scene of the robbery depicts an African American male, balding, wearing a light blue shirt and black pants enter the Quality Mart on two separate occasions. Upon entering the business for a second time, this male produced a knife and demanded that the store clerk open the register. The male suspect removed cash from the register and fled the scene on foot.

The suspect in this incident, Jesse Lee Goldston, was arrested on April 22, 2019. In addition to being charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon in Southern Pines, North Carolina, Jesse Lee Goldston was additionally charged with Larceny from a Person for a similar offense that occurred in Rockingham, North Carolina, which also took place on April 5, 2019. The Southern Pines Police Department would like to take this opportunity to thank the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their partnership and ongoing assistance in keeping our community safe.

Chief Bob Temme made the following statement about this investigation and arrest:

“The Town of Southern Pines has made a substantial investment in training our staff to perform with a certain level of expertise to solve challenging cases. The effort and skill displayed by all that were involved in this investigation is indicative of how every member of the Southern Pines Police Department performs on a daily basis to keep our community safe.”

Jesse Lee Goldston appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and is currently being held in the Moore County Jail under a $40,000.00 secured bond pending hearing on April 24, 2019, in Moore County District Court.

All defendants facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
