The Aberdeen Police Department is investigating an incident where shots were fired into a vehicles windshield while it was driving this week. The incident is reported to have occurred Tuesday morning on Saunders Boulevard in Aberdeen.
A Social Media post from the company whose truck and workers were fired upon stated “a black Chevrolet pickup, flying an American and a Confederate flag pulled out of a side street in front of them. The pickup drove a bit aways, then did a U-turn, came back towards our truck and fired a weapon at the windshield. The windshield broke, but thankfully, our employees were shaken but physically unharmed.”
The occupants of the pickup that fired the shots were reported to be white males of an unknown age.
Law enforcement are investigating charges of aggravated assault (discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle), criminal damage to property (vandalism), and violation of city ordinance concerning discharge of a firearm in the city limits.
According to Aberdeen Police Chief Tim Wenzel, the incident appears to be isolated with no other reports received of this type of activity. The case remains under investigation as of this report.
