The Pinehurst Police Department held a traffic enforcement checkpoint Thursday night south of the traffic circle on US 15-501 beginning just before 9:00 pm
Officers had a busy night with a DWI charge and a drug charge in the first ten minutes of the checkpoint being established and an arrest made for a person wanted on assault charges being made moments later.
There were thirty-nine total charges for the night including four misdemeanor drug charges, two felony drug charges, and thirteen license violations. There were three arrest made during the evening.
Assisting the Pinehurst Police Department were units with the Moore County Sheriff’s Department, Laurinburg Police Department, and the Hamlet Police Department.
Also participating in the operation Thursday was the “BAT Mobile” one of the State of North Carolina’s mobile DWI testing buses that is outfitted to perform breathalyzer test at the location of the checkpoint.
