Law enforcement officers from four agencies conducted traffic enforcement patrols and checkpoints around the Pinehurst area on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:00 pm until 3:00 am on both nights resulting in several citations and charges.
Violations and charges during this two day campaign included: 3 for speeding, 8 for driving while license revoked, 13 tag violations, 5 insurance violations, 3 open container violations, 9 drug charges, 1 child seat violation, 1 driving left of center, 1 allowing an unlicensed driver to drive, and 1 charge of resist/obstruct/delay an officer. The resist/obstruct/delay charge resulted following a short foot chase with a man jumping from his vehicle and fleeing on foot near NC Highway 5 before being quickly apprehended by officers nearby.
These operations were conducted in the area of the traffic circle, the intersection of Morganton Road and Hamptons Drive, and NC Highway 5 at NC Highway 2.
Participating in this enforcement operation were units with Pinehurst Police Department, Candor Police Department, Carthage Police Department, and the Foxfire Police Department.
Residents across Moore County can expect to see an increase in law enforcement patrols and enforcement checkpoints all across the county as law enforcement officers work harder to protect the motoring public during the busy holiday driving season.
