Sheriff Ronnie Fields announces the arrest of a Seagrove man after the investigation into a reported cruelty to animals in the Robbins area of Moore County.
On January 14th, 2019 the Moore County Sheriff’s Office received a report of horses not being properly cared for outside of Robbins in the Spies area of Moore County. As a result of the investigation, Moore County Animal Services rescued a total of four horses. Unfortunately, as a result of the neglect, one horse was found deceased at the scene and another had to be euthanized.
On February 18th, 2019 Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services arrested Johnny Baxter McCaskill Jr, 30, of Seagrove, North Carolina. McCaskill was charged with two counts of Felony Killing of an Animal by Starvation and one count of Misdemeanor Cruelty to Animals. He was confined to the Moore County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond and is first scheduled to appear in District Court on March 6th, 2019.
