Moore County District Attorney Maureen Krueger announces the opening of the Southmountain Children and Family Services Moore County Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC). The mission of the CAC is to give children and families hope for their futures with opportunity to experience successful accomplishments and fulfillment of their dreams. The CAC provides holistic services to children who have experienced abuse.
“The establishment of a local CAC represents several years of collaborative work between many partners in the field,” stated District Attorney Krueger, “Assistant District Attorney Tiffany Bartholomew, who prosecutes child abuse and sex abuse cases, recognized the need for a local CAC and tirelessly championed for the establishment of a CAC in Moore County.”
The CAC fills in gaps in services for abused and neglected children by offering multiple serviced in one, child-friendly atmosphere. Until now, traumatized children had to tell and retell their story at the hospital, police department, to social workers, and so on. The CAC will be able to provide trauma-informed services in a comforting environment to the child and non-offending parents. The CAC coordinates with the various agencies involved in child abuse cases, to include Social Services, Law Enforcement and the District Attorney’s Office to ensure that cases are suitably investigated and that children are given the support they need.
The CAC is located at 418 S. McNeill Street, Carthage NC. Please join us for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on April 23, 2019 at 2:00PM. Light refreshments will be available and attendees will be invited to tour the center.
