Clarence Henderson 4th On Right At 1960 Woolworth Lunch Counter protest in Greensboro

By Kay Wildt & Miriam Chu

Two well-known civil rights leaders, Rev. C.L. Bryant and Clarence Henderson, will speak in Moore County this Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 16th.

Rev. C.L. Bryant, a Senior Fellow at FreedomWorks, is an award-winning producer of an independent film documentary, Runaway Slave, "a movie about the race to free the Black community from the slavery of tyranny and progressive policies."

In addition, he is an author, a frequent guest at Fox News & CNN, and former two-term President of the NAACP in Garland, Texas, who hosts a syndicated radio program, THE CL BRYANT SHOW.

Rev. Bryant is an outspoken defender of freedom and equality. http://www.freedomworks.org/cl-bryant

Clarence Henderson was part of the successful 1960 Woolworth Lunch Counter protest in Greensboro, NC. Gov. McCrory appointed him to serve as Chair of the North Carolina Martin Luther King Jr. Commission.

Clarence is known for his work with the Boys Scouts, his fundraising for North Carolina A&T State University, Bennett College, and for scholarships for Dudley HighSchool. His energetic involvement in his church and his life’s journey as a soldier in the U.S. Army, teacher, college administrator, entrepreneur and motivational speaker has given him a unique perspective on what confronts society today.

Clarence now champions a new cause for a better America by challenging, motivating and inspiring others to be aware and responsible for the world that surrounds them. http://clarencehenderson.vpweb.com/default.html

Rev. C.L. Bryant will speak at two venues on Monday, January 16th. For those who prefer daytime events, Rev. Bryant will be the featured speaker at the Moore County Republican Men’s Club luncheon meeting at the Country Club of North Carolina (CCNC) at 11:30 a.m.

Cost: $20. To reserve for that event, go to the MCRM website: http://www.mcrm.org/ and click on the “RSVP” button or call Bob Zschoche directly at (910) 949-4250.

Later that day, Moore TEA Citizens at its evening meeting will feature both speakers, Rev. C.L. Bryant and Clarence Henderson. The Moore TEA Citizens event will be held at the Little River Golf & Resort, 500 Little River Farm Blvd, Carthage, NC 28327, in the new location of Filly & Colts restaurant.
