On Friday April 21, 2017, the Moore County Sheriff’s Office and members of the community will come together in a friendly, informal environment to discuss community issues, build relationships and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
All community members are invited to attend. The hours of the event will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Friday April 21, 2017 at Monarch Creative Arts and Community Center: 1662 Richards St, Southern Pines, NC 28387.
Coffee with a Deputy provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the Sheriff’s department’s work in Moore County. The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship-building with the community and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Deputy is intended to break down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between deputies, police officers and community members, one cup of coffee at a time.
