The “Dream It. Do It.” contest will award $100,000 in prizes over the next year

Southern Pines, N.C. (April 18, 2017) – Whether it’s launching a business, buying a house or sending a child to college, almost everyone has a dream they would pursue if they just had the money.

First Bancorp (Nasdaq: FBNC), the parent company of First Bank, which has nearly 90 branches across North Carolina and South Carolina, is launching a contest to help residents of both states make their wishes come true.

Over the next year, First Bank’s “Dream It. Do It.” sweepstakes will award $100,000 to deserving individuals to help them realize their dreams. Every three months, up to $25,000 will be given to winners selected by a committee of First Bank employees in partnership with a nonprofit organization. First Bank will choose a different nonprofit partner each quarter and donate $10,000 in support of its mission.

“We hear daily from our customers about the special things they are saving and planning for, whether that be a well-deserved vacation, a desire to own a home, or to start a business,” said Michael Mayer, president and CEO of First Bank. “The ‘Dream It. Do It.’ contest allows us to take a proactive role in helping at least some of those dreams come true and to have a positive influence on the lives of the people and communities we serve.”

First Bank has selected Asheville-based Mountain BizWorks as its first nonprofit partner. Mountain BizWorks helps small businesses grow and create jobs by providing loans, coaching and classes.

The contest is open to all individuals who live in North Carolina or South Carolina, and individuals can either nominate themselves or someone else. For official contest rules or to submit an entry, visit any First Bank location or www.localfirstbank.com/dreamitdoit.
