In December the Alfred Moore Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution awarded the Community Service Award to Dotty Starling.
Ms. Starling is known as a dedicated archivist for the historical site, Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities library.
Dotty is a currently serving on their executive committee and is a 30 year volunteer for the documentation of the institution’s memory. She is renowned for her knowledge of local history and the Boyd family, the original owners of Weymouth.
The Weymouth Center is the home of the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame and Ms. Starling has been instrumental concerning the history of the inductees and the contents of the library. She is a member of the James Boyd book club in Southern Pines and is noted for outstanding literary quality and each year selects nine books by authors who have been inducted in the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame.
Ms. Starling was recommend by the Alfred Moore Chapter member, Brenda Lawlor, shown presenting the award to Ms. Starling.
