(Fri) FEB. 1 Hiding in Hibernation (For Wee Ones!) 10:00am
Winter can be a tough time for wildlife, so some animals sleep right through it! Come learn about hibernation as we read a book, do some activities, and make a craft. If weather permits, we’ll spend some of the time outside. All activities will be geared towards 3 to 5-year-olds, and meant for parents to do with their children.

North Carolina State Parks’ “Year of the Snake” is here! Come test your snake smarts with a fun and interactive Jeopardy-style game to see what you know about the snakes that live in our state.
(Sun) FEB. 10 Be a Junior Ranger! 3:00pm
Learn how to become a Jr. Ranger with NC Parks! We will complete some activities in the Jr. Ranger workbook, and learn about service projects. (Best suited for kids age 6-12).
(Sun) FEB. 17 Fire in the Toolbox 3:00pm
Join a ranger to learn how land managers use fire as a tool to benefit plant and animal communities. See some of the tools used and planning that takes place to safely prepare for using fire on the landscape. The program will conclude with a short walk to see the effects
of recent fire.
(Sat) FEB. 23 Wildlings: Which Way to Weymouth? 10:00am
Join our Wildlings program series (geared for 6-10 year olds) this month as we learn to use a compass and map to complete a scavenger hunt around the park!
(Sun) FEB 24 Pyxie-Moss Hike 3:00pm
Join us on a 1.5-mile guided hike on the Paint Hill tract to find the rare Sandhills Pyxie-moss, a species only known to exist in a handful of counties in the Carolinas! Typically our first spring bloomer, we may get a sneak preview of the wildflower season to come. We will meet at the visitor center and caravan 1.5 miles to the Paint Hill Tract.
