The staff at Highfalls Elementary School would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped make the 84th Annual Highfalls Old-Time Fiddlers’ Convention a huge success. The evening was full of fantastic entertainment and lots of fun. Before the show, second and third grade students from Highfalls sang “Turn, Turn, Turn”, “I Used to be a Country Singer”, “If You’re Gonna Play in Texas” and “The Star Spangled Banner”. It was an evening full of fantastic entertainment!
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were as follows - Band: The Ingrams, Power Outage, Rocky Bottom Bluegrass; Fiddle: Samuel Hill, Malachi Freeman; Banjo: Jack Ritter, Curt Love, Tony Warner; Guitar: Justin Davis, John Michael Hill, Danny Casstevens; Mandolin: Amelia Freeman, Robert Davis, Eva Casstevens; Vocal: Caroline Owens, Carolyn Garner, Maddy Davis; Bass Fiddle: Jimmy Kennedy; Dobro: Sandy Hatley, Danny Casstevens; Dancers: Newell Gallimore, Sarah N. Murray, Jimmie Harrington; Piano/Misc: Hallie Ritter, Kenneth David Welsh, Jennifer Purvis; and Most Promising Young Talent:Sabrina Patel, Jack Hussey, Rylie Myers & EmmaSage McCrimmon. Congratulations to all the winners.
Jack Ritter was also awarded the first annual Theron Caviness Best Banjo Player Award for his performance of "Cluck Old Hen". This special award is given by the family of Theron Caviness.
