Bonnie Joan Springer of Pinehurst, NC, went to the Lord and eternal salvation on Friday May 3, 2019.

Bonnie was born March 1, 1933, in Pierre, SD, and was the daughter of the late Nelson Miles and Nellie Brandt Brubaker and was predeceased by her sister Shirley B. Updegraff. Bonnie spent most of her early life in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania where she met and then married Bob Springer, an Air Force officer. For the next 36 years, Bob and Bonnie and their children lived in various locations including Japan, Texas, Alabama, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, Germany, Washington D.C, and Illinois. During their time in the Air Force, Bonnie was a Sunday School teacher, avid volunteer as well as a full-time mother to five children.

In 1988, Bob and Bonnie made Pinehurst, North Carolina their home. After moving to Pinehurst, Bob served for several years as the Executive Director of the Arnold Air Society with Bonnie assisting him.

Bonnie loved gardening and flowers and was an active member of the Garden Club of the Sandhills. Bonnie cherished spending time with her family especially their Thanksgiving week at the Outer Banks with Bob, her children and grandchildren. Most of all, Bonnie loved being with her husband Bob and traveling with him.

Bonnie is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Robert D. Springer (Lieutenant General, USAF, Retired); her five children, Robert D., Jr., husband of Pam Springer; Debra, wife of Dave Miller; Curtis, husband of Romaine Springer; Michele, wife of Ray Becker; Tania Springer and 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Bonnie was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Southern Pines, NC.

A Memorial Service will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church on May 18th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church for “Matthew 25” (feeding the hungry in Moore County) or the Garden Club of the Sandhills. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
