Alvie Sidney Philley who spent many years in Colorado, Chicago, Illinois, and finally settled in Pinebluff NC passed away at the age of 73 on Saturday August 25, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in French Camp Mississippi on June 24, 1945.
Al as he liked to be called, was predeceased by his mother Clara, and Stepfather Wade who he loved like his own father.
Al was survived by his wife, Barbara of 52 years. In addition he leaves behind sons Alan and Gregory, and daughter Monica Miller (Kevin), who were the light of his life. His beloved grandsons Korey, Kasey, Kameron, and Lance were his inspiration later in life. He loved nothing more than taking them fishing, which was his most favorite pastime. Also Al left behind sister-in-law Joan Mangrum and her husband James, and two sisters Mary and Louise.
Barbara wanted to pass on a special thank you to all of his hospice nurses and other caregivers for all of the time spent caring for him over the last 15 months, like a devoted member of their own family. Barbara also wanted to thank the volunteers who sat and doted on Al whenever she had to be away from him.
Al’s family wanted to thank everyone who passed on their condolences, and everyone who had been a part of Al’s life over the years. Alvie Sidney Philley will definitely be missed by the people he touched throughout his life.
