Robert A. Woodworth, 82, of Pinehurst, died on December 18, 2018 in Aberdeen following a lengthy illness.Robert A. Woodworth, 82, of Pinehurst, died on December 18, 2018 in Aberdeen following a lengthy illness.

A private ceremony was held to honor his memory.

Born on February 10, 1936 in Conneaut, Ohio to T. Neil and Elizabeth E. Woodworth, Bob was a 1954 graduate of Rowe High School in Conneaut and Ohio University in 1962.

Bob married Nancy Lee Adams on June 16, 1963 and together they raised two sons. In 1973, Bob and family moved to Zelienople, Pennsylvania, where he worked in nearby Pittsburgh and the boys attended school. In 1988, Bob and Nancy moved to Pinehurst where he worked in the transportation department at the Pinehurst Resort for 22 years before retiring in 2010.

Bob was an avid golfer who spent most of his adult life chasing the elusive secrets to a perfect golf swing. He was an avid movie buff, and enjoyed traveling with Nancy, especially to New York City and the beaches of the Carolinas.

Bob is survived by two sons, James (Charlene) Woodworth of Rockingham, and Jeffrey Woodworth of Watertown, MA, grandchildren Chini and Joshua, a brother William (Kim) Woodworth of Arkansas, brother-in-law George Richards of Ohio, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years in 2011, Nancy, his parents, brothers Richard and Douglas, and sister Dolores.

Bob’s family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at Kingswood Nursing Center for their compassionate care, and would request that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his name at the Fisher Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation ( www.alzinfo.org) or the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (www.curealz.org).
