Kathy Ann Szyja, 59, of Jackson Springs, NC passed away peacefully on March 5, 2019 at her residence.

Kathy was born, February 15, 1960 in Milford, Connecticut. She was the daughter of the late Edward Norkaitis and Ruth (Norkaitis) Kostenko. She was the step-daughter of the late Joseph Kostenko, who raised Kathy from a young age. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Susan Zinn and Paulette Lorette, and a brother Eddie Norkaitis.

Kathy was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. She was an avid world-wide traveler and adventurist. She enjoyed cross country RV travel visiting many national parks. She had a love for both nature and animals; adopting several senior dogs.

Those left to love and cherish the memory of Kathy include her husband of 40 years, Richard Szyja; daughter, Casey Roy (Adam); brothers, Jeffrey and Bo Kostenko. She is survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and a ton of great friends.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 1 PM at Weymouth Center, 555 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines, NC.

Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
