Beginning on January 3, Robbins Area Library will be offering a new storytime just for toddlers (up to 2 ½ years) on the first Thursday of each month from 9:30 to 9:45am. For more information call 948-4000. Preschool Storytime will be held at Robbins Area Library on Thursday, January 3, 10, 17, 24, & 31 at 10:00am. Call 948-4000 for more information. Preschool Storytime will be held at Moore County Library in Carthage on Friday, January 4, 11, 18, & 25. Join us at 10:30am for stories, crafts, and fun! Call 947-5335 for more information. Moore County Library in Carthage will be offering the “Walk A Mile” fitness program on Friday, January 4 at 5:00pm in the meeting room. This low-impact plan incorporates 15 minutes of walking and five minutes of toning exercises that will help any beginner get started on the right track. The class is free. Interested participants only have to show up and join the fun! Moore County Library’s Teen Advisory Board will meet at the Carthage Library on Thursday, January 10 & 24 at 4:00pm. If you’re a teen between the ages of 12 & 18 who wants to rack up volunteer hours, make your college applications shine, and hang out with other teens…join us! New members are welcome. The Teen Advisory Board will host a Writing Workshop for young adults on Friday, January 11 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Moore County Library in Carthage. The workshop will be led by Amber McKinney, who studied English and Professional Writing at Meredith College and is currently the Young Adult Library Assistant. All middle school and high school students are welcome to attend! Enjoy a laidback, fun atmosphere as we try out some writing exercises and work on getting what’s in our minds onto paper. We’ll explore characterization, setting, plot and more! Start the new year off right by coming to Stitch-N-Time at Moore County Library in Carthage on Saturday, January 12 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Bring your sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, or needlework and join in! No registration required. It is a chance to see what others are doing while finishing up those half-done projects. Robbins Area Library offers free movies on the first Tuesday evening of each month at 5:30pm and the last Saturday afternoon of each month at 12:00pm. Call 948-4000 for movie titles and more information. In January the Robbins Area Library Book Club for elementary school students will be reading The Tale of Desperaux by Kate DiCamillo. Meetings are held on Thursdays at 10:00am. On Thursday, January 31 at 11:00am the club will meet to watch the movie version of the book. For more information, call 948-4000.
