Kimberly Wessell, a Hamlet native with more than two decades of sales and marketing experience, has been named Director of Sales and Marketing for St. Joseph of the Pines.
“There has never been a time in history when health care for older adults was more important than it is now,” Wessell said. “With 10,000 people turning 65 every day for the next 19 years, the need for aging services is great.”
Wessell spent the past decade as a national integrated media sales executive for Valassis, Inc., where she consistently exceeded her annual sales quota and won numerous company awards.
“Because St. Joseph of the Pines offers a full aging services network, the comprehensive nature of this continuum led me to want to contribute to this organization,” she said. “I am glad to serve as a part of the SJP community, working with older adults and others in need.”
SJP President Lori Portfleet said Wessell brings “an outstanding track record of sales success” to the position.
“She clearly stood out among a crowded field of applicants,” Portfleet said. “St. Joseph of the Pines is positioning itself to meet the needs of the next generation of older adults. Kimberly’s extensive background in marketing will help us shape the message that resonates with that generation.”
St. Joseph recently completed a multi-million dollar renovation of the Belle Meade clubhouse and is currently working on a 10-apartment addition to The Coventry, its assisted living building, to create a new Memory Care Center for older adults with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
“St. Joseph of the Pines is proactively preparing for future residents while improving the quality of life for current residents,” Wessell said. “It’s an exciting time to join this team and play an integral role in sustaining that positive momentum.”
Wessell earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education with Reading Certification in 1993 from East Carolina University, where she also studied Fashion Merchandising.
She taught the third grade at Landis Elementary School for one year before launching her sales career in 1995 with Jessica McClintock, Inc.
In 2000, Wessell became a sales manager for Signature Publishing, where she stayed for three years before being named a district manager for Welcome Wagon.
St. Joseph of the Pines is an aging services network offering a full continuum of retirement housing, health care and community-based services for older adults as well as community outreach to those in need.
It is a Trinity Health Senior Community continuing the legacy of the Sisters of Providence.
